Spoutwood Farm

Welcome to Spoutwood Farm CSA 2015

unnamed(2)Thank you so much for joining us for the 20th CSA season! We are looking forward to having you as a member of our Community Supported Agriculture (C.S.A.) here at Spoutwood. This year will build upon our experiences of last year, while making adjustments to improve our overall growing and distribution efforts. Our Certified Naturally Grown practices emphasize improving the health of our soil, using no synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, and having minimal reliance on mechanization by striving to convert to a reduced or no-till operation.

Our distribution for this year’s C.S.A. is anticipated to begin on the last Tuesday and Thursday in May, and end on the first Tuesday and Thursday in November, for a total of 24 weeks of deliveries every Thursday afternoon.

More information regarding pick-up times and locations will be available soon.

Member Involvement

Our plans for getting members involved with Spoutwood Farm CSA, and other programs and events here in 2015 include: educational opportunities, potlucks, and more! We will be sending out weekly updates via email once our distribution begins, as well as bi-monthly update newsletters (starting in May) to fill you in on all of what is happening at Spoutwood!

Attached to this e-mail is our 2015 CSA Yearly Schedule, which will provide you with a guide to a wide range of opportunities to get involved. This includes three potluck events to celebrate each growing season as well as CSA Community Growing Days on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of every month May – October, and we will do our best to keep you updated about other great Spoutwood events too. We are always open to your suggestions on getting involved!

We are still recruiting members for the 2015 season, so please spread the word to all of your friends and family who may be interested in joining us as well!

Member Feedback

This year we will feature a new mid-season survey as an effort to supplement our end-of-season survey so that we can do our best to address any ideas you may have throughout the year. We really value feedback as a way to improve our overall system. This requires direct communication with many of our members, which we highly encourage throughout the entire year. Please feel free to contact us anytime with your feedback, questions, or concerns.

If you have already provided a deposit or full payment for this year, thank you so much!

It is best for us financially to have all memberships paid in full by mid-May, so please make a deposit when you can and try to work with us on a simple payment plan agreement if you have not done so already.

Payments can be sent through Paypal to treasurer.csa@spoutwood.org (a “Pay Now” link to our Paypal can be found at our NEW WEBSITE! http://spoutwood.org/csa-wholesale/membership-form/ underneath our membership form at the bottom of the page). Or you are always welcome to send or drop-off a check to Spoutwood Farm, 4255 Pierceville Road, Glen Rock, PA 17327.

We also have a limited number of opportunities available to reduce the cost of your share by working with us here at the farm. 8 total hours of work over the 2015 season (maximum for part-time working share members) provides a $50 discount to your total membership cost. We also have opportunites to work 70 hours total hours for a medium share and 100 total hours for a large share. Please let us know as soon as possible if these opportunities interest you as they are available on a first come first serve basis.

Thanks again for supporting the 20th CSA season at Spoutwood Farm. We hope you will enjoy a fun, healthy, and bountiful season with us.

Sincerely,

CSA Farm Manager Jeff Bressler
