CSA Harvest Guide : September 27

Thanks to all who helped and came out on Sunday for the Fair, it was a total blast. We could not have asked for more perfect weather to be walking around outside.
The fields are starting to really shape up, as we grow nearer and nearer to being ahead of the weeds once again. We've noticed that many of our root crops are doing very well, and you'll be getting a taste of their success in your bags this week....the beets are back and bigger than ever!
On the other hand, our nightshades are starting to show their distress to the cooler nights and days. This may just be the last week that you'll be receiving cherry or slicer tomatoes, and although they may look to be fading a bit, they still pack a more superior flavor than any store bought brands....enjoy them while they last!

This week expect to find most if not all of these items: Lettuce, Beets, Winter Squash, Beans or Broccoli, Onions, Summer Squash or Eggplant, Peppers, Slicer and Cherry Tomatoes and Cilantro as an herb.
We have a mixture of winter squash, from delicatas and sugar dumplings to more spaghetti and even more butternut squash. This week, you'll be receiving at least one of these varieties of winter squash. It has been enjoyable waiting for the butternut squash to cure, because they fill the greenhouse with a warm and buttery smell- I definitely understand where their name comes from now.
Until next week, peace & enjoy!
